The Yaesu FT-817 came to the 2001 Dayton Hamvention®with the force of a hurricane. Those that already had them were admired. Those that wanted them were sometimes frustrated. Trying to find a bargain after the first day was getting harder and harder. A few dealers held on to them with higher than normal prices. Most likely hoping that they would not sell any and they could take all of them home for themselves. Others gave great bargains which depleted their inventory leaving them no choice but to send prospective customers elsewhere or place orders for after the show.
